This is what I have been waiting for!

I am so tried of paying Comcast $15/month for their DVR for HD and recording. Now I can get a computer with Windows 7 and put a cablecard multi-tuner inside and record multiple shows in HD and say screw you Comcast to the high rental fee.

The cable card has very little use, but with this news I would think that the cable card will increase in numbers.

I will probably wait a few more months for the cost of these cards to come down and figure out how in install all of it.

I was having issues with my Vonage phone system and it turned out one of the problems was the Dlink router.

This was my speed during the issue.

And the speed after I disable traffic shaping and QOS was 29.4m dn/2.9meg up.

I get a few emails like this each week – maybe 3 or 4 a week asking me if they can help me with my rankings.

In my contact form I do a look up from an IP address database to tell me what country they are writing from.

I bet you Lawrence Baxter is not his real name from India.

I also got one from Mark Conway with the same IP address.

I have a 6 year XP machine I thought I would use to try Windows 7 out with. I downloaded the file and burned the ISO to a DVD like they suggest, however I could never get it to install.

After many test it turns out my 6 year DVD won’t read either any of the DVD-R and DVD+R discs I made from different sources.

So what I ended up do was to installing Vista on the machine and then installing a virtual clone drive software and was able to install that way.

After I got the 6 year old machine working, I then installed Windows 7 on my wife’s machine and that install went just fine using the DVD I created. On each computer I did a clean install.

As a test I then deleted the window.old folder and it still ran fine.

My only problem is I changed the username on the 6 year old computer and for some reason my wife’s computer still sees that username even though it was changed and now I am having a hell of a time setting up the Homegroup network.

I am thinking of reinstalling Windows 7 again to see if I can fix that username issue. I will report back on my findings.
