UPDATE: I just talked to one of the workers slicing the fiber and he said no it is not fiber to the home! I knew that is was too good to be true!
I was just talking to an installer for Centurylink (subcontractor?) what they were installing along the road since I was confused because I thought Comcast, the local school and the phone company were all done building out our subdivision of Rock Creek.
He told me it was fiber for Centurylink, I said that was cool, but I told him that I thought they already had fiber running to and from their major boxes along the road, so I asked, “You are not running fiber to the home as well, are you?” And he said, “Yes”. Wow!
This is great news, two things will happen, we will get speeds most likely faster than Comcast and Comcast will lower their prices in our town like they have done that in other cities that have a fiber choice.
I didn’t believe him so I called Centurylink and they said it would be done in about a month.
I asked if I could be put on a list to be notified when it would be available and they said no.
