If you haven’t heard already internet marketer Jeremy Schoemaker has filed suit against Keyen Farrell in a Nebraska court . Sounds like a Google employee has used Schoemaker’s trademark in search ads on Google.
I have always thought that it would be great to be a Google employee within the AdWords or AdSense group for a month or two. Being an employee could provide amazing information on which publishers or advertisers are not only converting the best but also figure out which niches or verticals are the best to pursue.
I have always worried about competing against an ex-Google employee that has all this great conversion data in my verticals. I remember asking a Google rep years ago if low level employee like Keyen Farrell have access to that kind of information and I was assured that they do not. However in light of this new case I am being to think otherwise.
My wife used to practice law and she read Danny Sullivan’s blog post on the subject and said that Shoemoney’s lawyers might have a very interesting discovery process within Google if this case gets to proceed further. Imagine being Shoemoney’s lawyer and asking for whatever records they want in the discovery process.
I hope this goes to a court room so we can see within the Google back box. It would be sad if it gets settled out of court and the public can’t get a better idea of how Google run’s its show.
Update: I just got an email from Jeremy with a link to the complaint filed.
