Will Twitter Deteriorate Google’s Algo?

I have noticed a trend in the past 6 months where more and more people are now twittering instead of blogging.

You only have so much time in the day, twittering is so fast and easy that blogging takes a back seat.

So if blogging is happening less, perhaps this will hurt Google because now instead of linking to something you like in your blog you are placing a link in twitter which has a no follow tag.

Google is mostly built on finding good sites from links, so if all these links on Twitter are not counting will Google’s algo suffer?
